Dundurn's story begins in 1889, when the Regina Branch of the Canadian National Railway came through the area. The town grew up along that line in central Saskatchewan, about 42 km south of Saskatoon, and it remains an agricultural centre as well as a bedroom community for Saskatoon and for the nearby Canadian Forces Detachment Dundurn.
